Ohio State vs. Clemson; Alabama vs. Washington — Kickoff Times, Where to Watch the College Football Playoffs

College football playoff kickoff times, spreads, and more.

Four college football teams will do battle on New Year's Eve to determine who will compete for the 2016-2017 National Title: Alabama is the number one seed, Clemson is the two seed, Ohio State the third, and Washington the fourth seed. The first of the two games will be played Saturday when the Alabama Crimson Tide take on the Washington Huskies. The Tide are looking for their 17th national title (or 13th title, depending on which championships you count).

Championship History: Alabama has 16 National Titles. Washington has one, according to the NCAA.

This year's edition of the Peach Bowl is going to be one of the most expensive college football tickets ever. According to Ticket IQ, Saturday's first game will cost an average of $402 per ticket. You can expect a healthy Crimson Tide bias because the trip to Atlanta is much shorter from Tuscaloosa than it is from Washington.

The Huskies are 0-4 all-time against Alabama. The Crimson Tide have won 4 of the last 6 national titles and are well on their way to becoming an all-time powerhouse.

It's hard to single out one key player for the Tide, a team that's dominant up and down the roster. If Washington is going to have a chance in the game, expect quarterback Jake Browning to have a stellar performance. He threw for 3,280 yards and 42 touchdowns this season. He only threw seven interceptions on the year.

Ohio State vs Clemson

In the second game the Ohio State Buckeyes will take on the Clemson Tigers on Saturday for a chance to play for the College Football National Championship. The winner of the game will take on either Alabama or Washington, the teams in the other Semifinal game.

Championship History: Ohio State has eight national championships, Clemson has won one.

The last time these two teams met was in the 2013-2014 Orange Bowl when Clemson squeaked by the Buckeyes 40-35. Ohio State has never beaten the Tigers. For the Buckeyes, this is their first trip back to the College Football Playoffs since their National Championship winning campaign in the 2014-2015 season. Clemson lost last year's championship game to Alabama, 45-40.

The Buckeyes last bowl game, a 42-20 drubbing of Notre Dame, was played at the University of Phoenix stadium in Glendale, so the Buckeyes will have the advantage of familiarity with the field. Plus, Clemson has never appeared in the Fiesta Bowl.

Clemson may be the hungrier team, though. After losing in heartbreaking fashion to the Crimson Tide last year, quarterback DeShaun Watson and the rest of his Tigers may be out for revenge in a title game sequel. To get there, they'll have to make their way past a slightly favored Ohio State team and the Buckeyes appear hungry to add to their title collection.

Expect this one to be a battle of two fiery quarterbacks. Watson has claimed he could be the "face" of an NFL franchise and was a Heisman contender coming into this season. He threw for nearly 4,000 yard this season, to go along with 37 touchdowns and 15 interceptions. JT Barrett, for Ohio State, threw for 25 touchdowns to five interceptions and ran for another nine scores. These two could put on an explosive fireworks show to ring in the New Year.

To boot, tickets to the game are cheap compared to previous semifinal games and $200 cheaper than the Alabama-Washington game. So attendees will still be able to afford a celebratory (or consolatory) bottle of champagne after the game.
