53-Year-Old Man Killed In Tiogue Avenue Crash
The crash closed Tiogue Avenue at Arnold Road for nearly two hours.
COVENTRY, R.I. -- A serious crash on Tiogue Avenue Sunday evening claimed the life of a 53-year-old Coventry man and closed the road to traffic for nearly two hours.
According to Coventry police, the victim hit a utility pole with his vehicle just before 4:45 p.m. Emergency responders performed CPR at the scene before transporting the man to Kent Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The victim's identity has been withheld pending notification of his family.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

As of 5:25 p.m., Tiogue Avenue was closed to eastbound traffic at the intersection of Sandy Bottom Road and Arnold Road. Westbound traffic was diverted through the Rite Aid parking lot.
The scene was cleared and all lanes were reopened by 6:30 p.m.
