Car Catches Fire At UT-Austin Parking Garage

Car conflagration at 210 E. Martin Luther King Blvd. marks the second time this week of a reported vehicle fire at the campus.

AUSTIN, TX — University of Texas at Austin police on Thursday reported a car fire at the Brazos parking garage on campus — the second time in three days that a vehicle has erupted on flames at the campus.

Police via Twitter said a vehicle at the garage on 210 E. Martin Luther King Blvd. was quickly extinguished. The cause of the fire is unclear, but no injuries were reported.

The incident marks the second time in three days that a car has caught fire at the campus. On Sept. 9, a fire erupted in the engine compartment of a patrol vehicle at around 2:15 p.m.

Both incidents are, naturally, unrelated yet left some scratching their heads as to their chronological proximity. "Why are cars ALWAYS ON FIRE AT UT???" Kay Edwards asked on Twitter.
