• Akron post office closing Oct. 31 (wbrc.com) — Akron residents will lose their local post office on October 31, when USPS closes the Akron location and shifts all services to the Moundville Post Office starting November 1. P.O. Box holders must pick up their mail in Moundville with ID, while USPS and the building owner say they are still exploring options to preserve a postal presence in Akron.
