1 Dead, 1 Injured In Fairfield Shooting

A shooting in Fairfield Tuesday, presumed to be during a robbery attempt, claimed the life of a 21-year-old man

FAIRFIELD, AL — A 21-year-old man is dead and a 24-year-old woman was injured after a shooting in Fairfield. The incident occurred at the Chateau Glen Oaks Apartments around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Sgt. Joni Money of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said the shooting was the result of an attempted robbery, as detectives located a paper bag containing cash near where the male victim was shot.

Witnesses said a black male, wearing all black clothing, came from behind the apartments shooting at the male victim. The female victim was getting her child from her vehicle and was struck by gunfire, Money said. The child was not injured.
