2 Dead In Separate West Birmingham Shootings

Christopher Shawn Vance was shot and killed in Ensley early Sunday morning, prior to another homicide in West Birmingham.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — A 29-year-old man was shot and killed in Ensley Sunday, according to reports by the Birmingham Police Department. The incident occurred just after 1 a.m. on 20th Place.

Sgt. Rod Mauldin of the Birmingham Police Department said the victim has been identified as 29-year-old Christopher Shawn Vance. Mauldin said the preliminary investigation suggests that Vance was involved in an altercation prior to the shooting.

A person of interest was taken into custody for further questioning.

Later that evening, West Precinct officers responded to another shooting in the 3900 block of Todd Avenue.

The victim, identified as 30-year-old Christopher Ryan Fletcher, was pronounced dead on the scene.
