1 Victim Dead, Another Hospitalized In Birmingham Shooting

A shooting Friday morning left one person dead and another with life-threatening injuries.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — A shooting Friday morning in Birmingham left one victim dead and another hospitalized with life-threatening injuries. The incident occurred just after 7 a.m. in the 900 block of 47th Street North.

Sgt. Rod Mauldin of the Birmingham Police Department said 49-year-old Demarcus Trelaine Beasley was found on the scene unresponsive and suffering from a gunshot wound. Birmingham Fire and Rescue responded to the scene and pronounced the victim deceased. Detectives also learned another victim was transported to UAB Hospital with life threatening injuries.

Mauldin said the preliminary investigation suggests both victims were involved in an altercation with the suspect prior to being shot. The suspect fled the scene in a small sedan. There are no suspects in custody.
