1-Year-Old Child Killed In Fairfield Wreck

FAIRFIELD, AL — A 1-year-old girl was killed in a wreck Saturday night at the intersection of Valley Road at Commerce Avenue in Fairfield.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office reports that the child was a passenger in one of two vehicles that had been struck by a Dodge Ram truck, and was trapped in the automobile. Once rescue personnel removed the child from the vehicle, she was transported to Children’s Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries, according to Sgt. Joni Money.

Two others involved in the crash were transported to local hospitals for treatment. Their injuries are not life-threatening, Money said.
