2 Injured In Separate Fairfield Shootings
Two shootings Monday in Fairfield left victims injured in unrelated incidents.
JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL — The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is investigating two unrelated shootings in the county Monday, both of which resulted in injuries to two victims. Both incidents occurred around 1 p.m. in Fairfield.
Sgt. Joni Money of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said the first shooting occurred at at Western Hills Mall, and while deputies were on the scene, they received reports of another shooting nearby at an apartment complex in the 5000 block of Myron Massey Boulevard.
The investigation into the first shooting reveled that a 23-year-old man was shot in the parking lot of the mall and had been transported to a local hospital by private vehicle. He remains in the hospital but is expected to recover.

In the second shooting, Money said the victim and another female were arguing about a Facebook post. The second female, was joined by a male, who opened fire on the victim. The victim was struck in both arms by gunfire. She was transported to a local hospital and is in stable condition.
During the investigation, detectives interviewed the male who admitted to shooting the victim. Corterius Kizzard was taken into custody and transported to the Jefferson County Jail. He is charged with assault and shooting into an occupied vehicle. His bonds total $30,000.
