2 Dead, 2 Injured In West Birmingham Shooting

The Birmingham Police Department has launched an investigation into a double homicide in west Birmingham Friday.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — Two men are dead and two more wounded after a shooting in west Birmingham Friday, police said. The shooting occurred at the Serenity Apartments at Valley Creek located in the 1100 block of 33rd Street SW.

Sgt. Rod Mauldin of the Birmingham Police Department said officers responded to a ShotSpotter

call of more than 30 rounds fired at the location. Police found two men with gunshot wounds who were taken to UAB Hospital. They are expected to recover from their injuries.

Also on the scene were two men found unresponsive in a vehicle, also with gunshot wounds, Mauldin said. Anthony Murray, 22, and Ronald Deshawn Smith Jr., 24, were pronounced dead on the scene.
