2 Weekend Homicides Under Investigation In Birmingham
The Birmingham Police Department is investigating two homicides that occurred over the weekend.
BIRMINGHAM, AL — The Birmingham Police Department is investigating two separate homicides that occurred this past weekend. One occurred Saturday just after 11:30 p.m., while the second one occurred on Sunday at approximately 5:03 p.m.
Sgt. Johnny Williams of the Birmingham PD said the names of both victims have been withheld pending the notification of each victim's family.
Saturday night's homicide involved a man lying in the front yard unresponsive and suffering from a gunshot wound.

The victim was transported to UAB hospital by Birmingham Fire & Rescue for treatment and was later pronounced deceased by hospital staff.
Officers later discovered another subject inside the residence that was also suffering from a gunshot wound. The second subject, who would later be identified as a suspect, was transported to UAB hospital by Birmingham Fire & Rescue for treatment. The second subject/suspect’s condition has been classified as critical.

In the Sunday afternoon shooting, officers from the South Precinct responded to a call of shots fired in the 700 block of 1st Street South and found the victim lying in the street unresponsive and suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
The Jefferson County Coroner's office pronounced the victim deceased on the scene. South Precinct officers located a subject at the scene believed to be involved in the altercation with the victim just before the shooting. That subject was taken into custody.
The victim in Sunday's shooting has been identified as 53-year-old Orlando Robinson.
