2 Weekend Homicides Under Investigation By Birmingham PD
Police are investigating homicides that occurred in Birmingham Saturday and Sunday, the city's second and third homicides of the year.
BIRMINGHAM, AL — Homicides Saturday and Sunday are under investigation in Birmingham, the city's second and third homicides of the year.
Shortly before 8 a.m. Saturday, Public Works employees discovered a body at Linn Park downtown, police said. Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel pronounced the victim dead. Although the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office has deemed this a homicide investigation, no suspects or motive have been established.
Sunday, just before 9 p.m., West Precinct officers were dispatched to an apartment complex at 2108 Warrior Road on report of a person shot. Officer Truman Fitzgerald of the Birmingham Police Department said the gunshot victim was pronounced dead on the scene. The Jefferson County Coroner's Office has identified the victim as 52-year-old Brian Fleming of Birmingham.
