2022 Starts With 2 Homicides In Birmingham

Authorities are investigating two homicides in Birmingham on New Year's, including one just two hours into the new year, a report said.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — Birmingham police are investigating two homicides that have happened at the start of 2022, according to reports and police.

The first homicide happened just over two hours into the new year, AL.com reported. The report said the homicide happened in the 300 block of 24th Street South and the victim died in surgery.

The second homicide happened in the 800 block of Cable Car Court, Birmingham police said in a tweet just before 9:30 a.m.

AL.com reported the second homicide involved a shooting and that more than a dozen shell casings were on the ground.
