21 New COVID-19 Deaths Confirmed In Alabama
The Alabama Department of Public Health confirmed 21 new COVID-19 deaths in the last 24 hours.
MONTGOMERY, AL — Despite lower numbers of new COVID-19 cases this week in Alabama, the Alabama Department of Public Health Friday confirmed 672 deaths from the virus, 21 more than the total reported Thursday.
The state reported 307 new cases of the virus for Thursday, which was higher than the new case total from Wednesday, but still lower than the daily totals seen over the weekend ans at the beginning of the week.
Total, the state has confirmed 19,073 cases of COVID-19, with 5,310 of those cases confirmed in the last two weeks.

In the last five days, the number new cases reported each day has been somewhat inconsistent:

- May 31: 520 new cases
- June 1: 337 new cases
- June 2: 204 new cases
- June 3: 216 new cases
- June 4: 307 new cases
Jefferson County, which has recently started reporting its COVID-19 stats by ZIP code, is approaching 2,000 cases of the virus, with Montgomery County catching up, having reported 802 new cases in the last 14 days.
The counties with the most cases as of Friday afternoon:
- Mobile County: 2,341 cases; 123 deaths
- Jefferson County: 1,927 cases; 105 deaths.
- Montgomery County: 1,905 cases; 44 deaths
