25-Year-Old Victim Dead After South Birmingham Shooting

A 25-year-old Birmingham mean is dead after a shooting Monday night on Center Street South.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — A 25-year-old Birmingham man is dead after a shooting Monday in the 100 block of Center Street South. The incident occurred just after 5:30 p.m.

Sgt. Rob Mauldin of the Birmingham Police Department said South Precinct officers found Montrelle Kellogg unresponsive and suffering from gunshot wounds when they arrived on the scene of the shooting. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

A female victim was also shot, and taken to UAB were she was treated for injuries and is expected to recover.

Mauldin said the preliminary investigation indicates Kellogg drove to the location, exited his car and exchanged words with an unknown person, and was shot shortly after.

The suspected shooter reportedly fled the scene on foot prior to Birmingham police's arrival. No suspects are in custody.
