29 New Coronavirus Cases Reported In Jefferson County

Jefferson County confirmed 29 new coronavirus cases Friday, nearly double the number of new cases from Thursday.

JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL — While Thursday looked promising for Jefferson County in regard to new coronavirus cases, Friday was not quite as positive. The county reported nearly twice as many new cases Friday as it did Thursday, which does not bode well as the state begins to open up the economy.

Jefferson County reported 910 cases Friday, up 29 from Thursday. The county reported just 16 new cases Thursday. Jefferson County also has 46 total deaths from the virus.

Mobile County remains the county with the most cases in Alabama, with 1,083 total cases — an increase of 26 cases from Thursday.

In all, Alabama has 7,158 coronavirus cases as of Friday afternoon. The state has tested 91.993 people. Alabama has had 1,008 people hospitalized from the virus, and has reported 279 deaths.

The counties with the most cases as of Friday afternoon:

  • Mobile County: 1,083 confirmed cases; 5,358 total tests; 57 deaths
  • Jefferson County: 915 confirmed cases; 10,150 total tests; 46 deaths
  • Lee County: 389 confirmed cases; 2,098 total tests; 29 deaths
  • Montgomery County: 344 confirmed cases; 1,777 total tests; 6 deaths
  • Marshall County: 320 confirmed cases; 1,383 total tests; 6 deaths
  • Shelby County: 318 confirmed cases; 2,805 total tests; 13 deaths
  • Chambers County: 288 confirmed cases; 729 total tests; 21 deaths
  • Tallapoosa County: 285 confirmed cases; 1,098 total tests; 18 deaths
  • Madison County: 225 confirmed cases; 5,897 total tests; 4 deaths
  • Tuscaloosa County: 207 confirmed cases; 2,417 total tests; 1 death
