3-Year-Old Dies After Being Found Floating In Swimming Pool

A 3-year-old who was discovered unresponsive in a Birmingham swimming pool died at Children's of Alabama Tuesday.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — A 3-year-old child who was found floating in a swimming pool in Graysville Tuesday has died. The child was discovered just before 6 p.m. Tuesday and was transported to Children's of Alabama.

A report by the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said family members reported finding a boy floating in a swimming pool at 638 Sayre Mine Road in Graysville and that the child was unresponsive.

According to David Agee of the JCSO, the child’s father attempted CPR on the child until medical personnel were on the scene. The child was transported to Children’s of Alabama where he died later.

Sheriff’s detectives have started an investigation into the death of this child, and at this time there are no signs of foul play, Agee said. The Department of Human Resources responded to the scene to check the welfare of the other children at this location.
