35 More Deaths Confirmed As Alabama Nears 50,000 COVID-19 Cases
Alabama confirmed 35 COVID-19 deaths over the last 24 hours, and more than 1,300 new cases.
MONTGOMERY, AL — As Alabama closes in on 50,000 total COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began, the state confirmed 35 deaths from the virus in the last 24 hours, bringing the state's COVID-19 death total to 1,077.
Alabama added more than 1,300 new cases to its total Friday on top of the 35 fatalities. As well, 1,125 patients remain hospitalized with the virus. The state has confirmed 15,120 of its 49.802 cases in the last two weeks alone.
Jefferson County confirmed 189 new cases, bringing its state-leading total to 6,219 cases, while Mobile County led the state Friday with 207 new cases of the virus.

Jefferson County leads the state in COVID-19 deaths, followed by Mobile County and Montgomery County.

Here are the counties with the most COVID-19 deaths as of Friday afternoon:
- Jefferson County: 167 deaths; 6,219 total cases
- Mobile County: 138 deaths; 4,625 total cases
- Montgomery County: 111 deaths; 4.397 total cases
- Tallapoosa County: 69 deaths; 625 total cases
- Tuscaloosa County: 52 deaths; 2,586 total cases
