4-Year-Old Shot In Western Hills Mall Parking Lot

JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL — A 4-year-old child was shot outside Western Hills Mall Saturday in what investigators say was an accident. The incident occurred in the parking lot of the mall just before noon Saturday.

Sgt. Joni Money of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said witness statement claim the child was in the back seat of a vehicle with his siblings when one of the child's siblings found the gun and accidentally shot the child.

Money said the child is in critical condition at Children's Hospital of Alabama.
