44-Year-Old Man Killed In Birmingham Shooting: Police

A shooting in east Birmingham Friday night claimed the life of a 44-year-old man.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — A shooting in east Birmingham Friday night claimed the life of a 44-year-old man. The Jefferson County Coroner's Office has identified the victim as Erick Hutchins.

Sgt. Johnny Williams of the Birmingham Police Department said the incident occurred just after 11 p.m. at 5417 Watson Avenue. Police reportedly found Hutchins unresponsive on the porch of an abandoned house. He was pronounced dead on the scene by Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service.

Williams said police do not have a suspect in custody as of Tuesday morning.
