Accident In North Jefferson County: Fatality Reported

JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL — A traffic accident near the Jefferson/Blount county line Thursday afternoon resulted in a fatality, as Jefferson County Sheriff's deputies continue to investigate the incident.

Deputy Chief David Agee of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said the accident occurred around 3:30 p.m. at 9900 Highway 79. Agee said the initial investigation shows that the female driver, identified as Stephanie Ann Chaney, 51, was traveling south on Highway 79 when she crossed the center line and collided head on with a dump truck.

Chaney was pronounced dead on the scene.
