Adamsville Man Mistakes Roommate For Intruder, Shoots Him
A shooting in Adamsville is under investigation after a man reportedly mistook his roommate for an intruder and shot him.
JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL — The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting in Adamsville Tuesday night, which was reportedly a case of mistaken identity. The incident occurred just before midnight in the 2800 block of Woodruff Mill Road.
Sheriff's deputies said they reported to a call regarding an accidental shooting, and found a victim suffering gunshot wounds at the home. A man reportedly heard a noise and went outside to investigate, carrying his pistol. When he returned inside, the man mistook his roommate for an intruder and shot him, according to Capt. David Agee of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.
The victim was transported to a nearby hospital where he is still being treated. The JCSO is investigating the incident, although witnesses say the shooting was accidental.
