Alabama Adds 516 New Coronavirus Cases, 25 Deaths

MONTGOMERY, AL — The Alabama Department of Public Health reported the lowest daily total of new COVID-19 cases in more than two months Monday, as the state confirmed 516 new cases of the virus. The ADPH also confirmed 25 COVID-19 deaths, bringing the state's fatality total to 1,855.

The state has confirmed 30 deaths from the virus since Friday. The state has reported 13,973 new cases of COVID-19 in the last two weeks. That 14-day total is approximately 10,000 lower than the 14-day total July 15, when Gov. Kay Ivey issued her mandatory face covering order.

Dr. Karen Landers of the Alabama Department of Public Health stressed Monday that despite the recent trend of fewer new cases, Alabamians "should not let down their guard."

Landers reminded residents to adhere to face covering orders and social distancing practices to keep Alabama's numbers falling.

• August 11: 536 new cases
• August 12: 875 new cases
• August 13: 695 new cases
• August 14: 700 new cases
• August 15: 1,161 new cases
• August 16: 722 new cases
• August 17: 516 new cases
