Alabama Confirms More Than 10,000 COVID-19 Cases In Last Week
The Alabama Department of Public Health has confirmed 10,393 new COVID-19 cases in the state over the past seven days.
MONTGOMERY, AL — The Alabama Department of Public Health confirmed 1,860 new COVID-19 cases Monday, meaning the state has now confirmed more than 10,000 new cases of the virus in the last seven days.
In all, the state has confirmed 54,768 cases of COVID-19 since March, with 17,301 of those cases reported in just the last two weeks. The ADPH says 25,783 patients are presumed to have recovered from the virus.
Alabama's death total from COVID-19 is approaching 1,100, as Monday the ADPH reported 1,096 total COVID-19 fatalities.

Jefferson County continues to lead all Alabama counties in cases, surpassing 7,000 total as the county reported 266 new cases Monday. That daily total was second only to Madison County, which has become a new hot spot for the virus. Madison reported 267 new cases of COVID-19 Monday.

The counties with the most new cases reported Monday:
- Madison County: 267 new cases; 2,535 total
- Jefferson County: 266 new cases; 7,012 total
- Mobile County: 157 new cases; 5,061 total
- Shelby County: 73 new cases; 1,764 total
- Marshall County: 70 new cases; 2,050 total
