Alabama Confirms A Record 57 COVID-19 Deaths In One Day
The Alabama Department of Public Health reported 57 deaths from COVID-19 over the last 24 hours.
MONTGOMERY, AL — The Alabama Department of Public Health has confirmed a record 57 deaths from COVID-19 in the last 24 hours. More than 1,300 people have died from the virus statewide since the pandemic began.
The state added 1,333 new cases to its total Wednesday, as the state passed 70,000 total cases. The state has confirmed 22,396 new cases of the virus in the last two weeks.
As of Wednesday, 1,547 Alabamians were currently hospitalized from COVID-19, which is down 20 from Tuesday's total.

Total, Alabama has confirmed 70,413 cases of COVID-19, with 29,736 patients presumed to have recovered from the virus.

Jefferson, Baldwin and Mobile counties each posted more than 100 new cases in the last 24 hours.
The counties with the most new cases reported Wednesday:
- Jefferson County: 187 new cases; 9,275 total
- Mobile County: 162 new cases; 6,443 total
- Baldwin County: 157 new cases; 2,164 total
- Madison County: 83 new cases; 3,741 total
- Montgomery County: 85 new cases; 5,329 total
