Alabama Coronavirus Cases Continue To Rise: 7,555 In Last 2 Weeks

More than 7,500 new cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in Alabama in the last 14 days.

MONTGOMERY, AL — Record numbers of new COVID-19 cases continue in Alabama, as the Alabama Department of Public Health has confirmed more than 7,500 new cases of the virus in the last two weeks alone.

As of Monday, 25,892 cases have been confirmed statewide, with 7,555 of those cases confirmed in the last 14 days. Thus far, 769 people have died from the virus, and 2,259 patients have been hospitalized. Since testing began in March, 302,294 tests have been administered in Alabama, and 13,508 patients have recovered from COVID-19.

The number of new COVID-19 cases reported in the last week in Alabama has topped the total for any week since the pandemic began.

  • June 8: 488 new cases
  • June 9: 562 new cases
  • June 10: 849 new cases
  • June 11: 720 new cases
  • June 12: 1,075 new cases
  • June 13: 976 new cases
  • June 14: 643 new cases

Montgomery County leads the way in total cases, having passed Mobile County over the weekend. Montgomery and Jefferson Counties have each seen a spike in new cases over the last two weeks.

Here are COVID-19 stats for those counties as of Monday:

  • Montgomery County: 2,871 cases; 1,098 in the last 14 days
  • Mobile County: 2,723 cases; 452 in the last 14 days
  • Jefferson County: 2,537 cases; 669 in the last 14 days.
