Alabama Coronavirus: Confirmed Cases Approach 5,000 Mark
The total number of deaths from coronavirus complications in Alabama sits at over 150.
BIRMINGHAM, AL — Over 4,800 cases of the new coronavirus have been confirmed in Alabama as of Sunday afternoon and more than 150 residents of the state have died from complications resulting from the illness, according to the latest figures released by the Alabama Department of Public Health.
The Alabama Department of Public Health reports more than 45,700 total tests completed and 154 fatalities in the state.
Of the total cases, 681 are in Jefferson County, an increase of 37 from Saturday. Jefferson has the most confirmed cases in the state but Mobile County recently became the county with the highest total reported deaths, reporting 28 fatalities as of Sunday.

- Jefferson County: 681 confirmed cases; 8,640 total tests; 25 reported deaths
- Mobile County: 661 confirmed cases; 3,662 total tests; 28 reported deaths
- Lee County: 308 confirmed cases; 2,038 total tests; 14 reported deaths
- Shelby County: 264 confirmed cases; 2,171 total tests; 7 reported deaths
- Chambers County: 245 confirmed cases; 748 total tests; 13 reported deaths
