Alabama Hate Groups: Who They Are, and Where They Are Located

A map published by the Southern Poverty Law Center shows where 27 known hate groups are headquartered in Alabama.

MONTGOMERY, AL - The tragic incidents occurring recently in Charlottesville, Va., have shed more light on hate groups, such as those that convened in Virginia over the weekend. A total of 917 organizations across the United States meet the Southern Poverty Law Center’s criteria for being designated as hate groups. These groups include the Ku Klux Klan, skinhead organizations, black separatists and others.

Five of the organizations are listed as "statewide," without a specific base of operations. Those are:
