Alabama Tops 1,100 New COVID-19 Cases In One Day
Alabama posted its highest daily total of new COVID-19 cases ever, topping 1,100 cases.
MONTGOMERY, AL — New COVID-19 cases in Alabama continue to rise, as the Alabama Department of Public Health Thursday confirmed more than 1,100 new cases of the virus in the last 24 hours. The record-setting number brings the state total to 32,753 cases, and 9,631 cases confirmed in the last 14 days.
In two weeks, 96,519 COVID-19 tests have been administered statewide, which means the rate of positive tests sits at just above 10 percent.
The good news Thursday was that the ADPH saw fatalities from the virus slow, reporting one death, after a two-day stretch that saw 48 COVID-19 deaths. The state has confirmed 880 deaths from the virus since March.

Jefferson County has surpassed Montgomery County for the most cases confirmed in the last two weeks, and has seen its total number of cases pass Mobile County for second most cases in the state.

Here are the counties with the most COVID-19 cases confirmed in the last 14 days:
- Jefferson County: 997 cases in last 14 days; 3,332 overall
- Montgomery County: 955 cases in last 14 days; 3,467 overall
- Mobile County: 601 cases in last 14 days; 3,219 overall
- Tuscaloosa County: 601 cases in last 14 days; 1,739 overall
- Marshall County: 457 cases in last 14 days; 1,265 overall
