Alabama Tops 500 COVID-19 Deaths; Jefferson County Adds 4
Alabama reported 17 coronavirus deaths in the last 24 hours, bringing the statewide total to more than 500 fatalities from the virus.
MONTGOMERY, AL — After confirming 17 deaths from COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, the Alabama Department of Public Health has reported more than 500 deaths from the virus. The state has confirmed more than 12,300 cases of COVID-19 since March 13.
One positive aspect of Tuesday's statistics from the ADPH is that for two straight days, the state reported fewer new COVID-19 cases. The state reported 306 new cases Monday, and 312 new cases Sunday. Saturday the state reported 347 new cases.
Jefferson County and Montgomery County each accounted for four of the state's deaths in the last 24 hours. Both counties have seen a spike in new cases in the last few days.

- Mobile County: 1,751 confirmed cases; 103 deaths
- Jefferson County: 1,367 confirmed cases; 78 deaths
- Montgomery County: 907 confirmed cases; 24 deaths
- Marshall County: 638 confirmed cases; 9 deaths
- Lee County: 450 confirmed cases; 31 deaths
- Shelby County: 404 confirmed cases; 19 deaths
- Tuscaloosa County: 387 confirmed cases; 8 deaths
- Tallapoosa County: 371 confirmed cases; 57 deaths
- Franklin County: 364 confirmed cases; 4 deaths
- Chambers County: 329 confirmed cases; 22 deaths
