Here are the top three stories today in Birmingham:

  1. Alamo Drafthouse Cinema is coming to Birmingham’s Powell Steam Plant soon, making Birmingham the company’s first location in the deep South. Orchestra Partners made the announcement yesterday, more than two years after a similar press conference unveiled a new Parkside master plan which included the steam plant. Alamo Drafthouse will be the anchor tenant for the redevelopment project. (AL.com)
  2. After a long week, there's plenty of fun in store this weekend in Birmingham. From musicals to true crime theatrical portraits, visitors, and residents alike can relish the many events going on between Feb. 4-6. (Bham Now)
  3. According to police, a Birmingham man was arrested after being accused of sexually assaulting a victim while posing as a Lyft driver. Police said 40-year-old Cardalle Bruce Osby was identified as a suspect in the October 2021 sexual investigation. The victim was picked up by someone they believed worked for the rideshare company, only to be taken to an apartment complex on Chase Lane in east Birmingham and sexually assaulted.
