Amberly Flores: Missing Pelham Girl Found Safe
A 13-year-old Pelham girl who had been missing for more than a day was found safe Thursday.

PELHAM, AL — A 13-year-old Pelham girl who had been reported missing after she left her home Tuesday morning for school has been located and is safe. Pelham police confirmed that Amberly Flores was found Thursday afternoon in the Huntsville area.
Detectives are obtaining a felony warrant for interference with custody against 24-year old Rodrigo Ortega, according to Pelham Police Chief Pat Cheatwood.
"He is the suspect in the disappearance of Amberly Flores. He will be brought back to Shelby County to face charges as soon as possible," Cheatwood said.

Police said the girl was seen on video getting into a black Mercedes SUV Tuesday morning. The video shows that Amberly willingly entered the vehicle, according to Pelham police.

Flores was checked out at a local hospital in north Alabama, and is reportedly doing well.

"Once she has been reunited with her family, we will meet with her to learn more about what happened over the last couple of days," Cheatwood said.
Cheatwood thanked the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency and the Madison County Sheriff's Office for their assistance in this case.
