Longtime Birmingham Radio Personality Binnie Myles Dies (abc3340.com) — Birmingham is mourning longtime radio voice and community advocate Binnie Myles, whose family says she died suddenly this week. Known for her work on local airwaves and with the Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame, she was remembered by Mayor Randall Woodfin as a civil rights champion who used her platform to uplift overlooked communities across the city.
5. GBHS to move into new Oxmoor-area facility (birminghamwatch.org) — Jefferson County has approved moving the Greater Birmingham Humane Society's animal control operations from near the airport to a new Sydney Drive facility, even as GBHS continues suing the City of Birmingham and Nebius over a nearby hyperscale data center. Commissioners also celebrated new leadership at the G. Ross Bell Juvenile Detention Center and greenlit major U.S. Steel and Drummond industrial investments expected to bring jobs and tax benefits.
