Apartment Fire Near Roebuck Prompts Homicide Investigation
A man found dead while firefighters extinguished a fire in an apartment complex is said to be a victim of a homicide.
BIRMINGHAM, AL — An apartment fire near Roebuck Friday morning has prompted a homicide investigation by Birmingham police. The fire occurred just before 4 a.m. at Watertown Lodge Apartments.
The victim has been identified as 27-year-old Ladarrius Jamiel Brooks.
Sgt. Rod Mauldin of the Birmingham Police Department said a man was found dead in one of the apartments with gunshot wounds. Mauldin said police have not determined if the victim lived in the apartment.
