Apartment Fire In Southside Leaves One Man Dead
A fire in a vacant apartment in Birmingham's Southside neighborhood claimed the life of one victim.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - A fire in a vacant apartment in Birmingham's Southside left one victim injured and another dead. The fire occurred Thursday night in the 1600 block of 20th Street South about 8 p.m.
A report by Alabama Media Group said two people were removed from the building. One of them was taken to UAB Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 8:42 p.m., according to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office. He has not yet been positively identified, but authorities said he is an adult white male.

The fire is still under investigation. The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
