Area Students Attend Samford's Minority Youth Science Academy

BIRMINGHAM, AL - Samford University hosted 29 Birmingham-area high school students at its Minority Youth Science Academy last month.

The program, offering college preparation and mentoring for high school students interested in careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) programs, was held June 17-20. The students lived on campus for the three-day program, and participated in workshops that included experiments in biology and engineering/technology; college application counseling; study skills and test preparation; teamwork activities and a session with minority scientists and college science students.
