Argument Leads To Homicide In West Birmingham: Police

A 52-year-old man was shot and killed after an altercation in west Birmingham Friday night.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — Police say a verbal altercation turned deadly Friday night when a 52-year-old man was shot and killed in west Birmingham. The incident occurred just after 9:30 p.m. at 521 5th Street Thomas.

Officer Truman Fitzgerald said the victim, Eloy Sierra, was pronounced dead on the scene in an alleyway. The preliminary investigation suggests that an argument led to the shooting. Police do not have a suspect in this case.

Sierra is the 98th homicide victim in Birmingham in 2020.
