Arrest Made In June Homicide Involving Death Of 62-Year-Old Woman

Police have arrested a man in connection with the death of 62-year-old Brenda Lee Jordan in June.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — Birmingham police have made an arrest in the homicide case involving the June 6 death of 62-year-old Brenda Lee Jordan. Lovell Travis has been charged with capital murder and certain persons forbidden to possess a firearm.

Sgt, Rod Mauldin of the Birmingham Police Department said Travis was taken into custody Saturday and is being held without bond at the Jefferson County Jail.

Jordan was reportedly a passenger in a vehicle when she was struck by gunfire in the 6800 block of 1st Avenue North.

Mauldin said the preliminary investigation suggested the occupants from a vehicle nearby fired shots at another vehicle, however the gunfire struck the victim. The vehicle occupied by the victim was passing through the area when gunfire erupted.
