Arrest Made In South Birmingham Homicide

Birmingham police have arrested a 21-year-old man in connection with a fatal shooting Monday night.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — Police have arrested a suspect in the shooting death of 23-year-old James Rashad Brown, who was killed Monday night just after 9 p.m. at 621 Goldwire Place in soith Birmingham.

Sgt. Johnny Williams of the Birmingham Police Department said Marcus Earl Harris, 21, of Birmingham has been charged with manslaughter and receiving a stolen gun.

Officers found Brown suffering from a gunshot wound when they arrived at the scene Monday night after receiving a call of shots fired. Brown was taken to UAB Hospital where he was pronounced dead just after 2 a.m. Tuesday.

Harris is in custody at the Jefferson County Jail.
