Avondale Business Recovering After Break-In
A suspect broke into a cafe in Avondale Saturday night, and while he didn't get away with much money, other damage was done.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — A cat cafe in Avondale, Gatos & Beans, is recovering from a weekend break-in. The cafe doubles as an eatery and a place for cat adoptions.
The break-in occurred Saturday just after 9 p.m. A video of the break-in was posted by WVTM Thursday.

"Gatos and Beans was broken into last night," said a post on the cafe's Facebook page Sunday. "All the kitties were hiding and safely secured immediately after the call from then security company, thank goodness. We will not be open today. We will re open tomorrow so please some comfort the kitties. They had a very rough night."

A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to repair damages to the restaurant.
While the suspect did not get away with much money, the structural damage and disturbance of the cats living in the building was significant.
