Bessemer Jail To Close Temporarily For Repairs
The Bessemer jail will be closed from February 22 until September 19 while it undergoes major repairs.

BESSEMER, AL - The Bessemer jail will undergo major repairs and renovations beginning next week. The jail will be closed from February 22 until September 19 during the repair and remodeling process.
David Agee of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said the repairs are necessary to continue safe and secure living conditions at the jail. Agee said prisoners from the Bessemer county jail will be housed at the Birmingham county jail.

The Bessemer jail will be open for modified operations Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for Bessemer court cases. The prisoners will be brought to Bessemer each day and taken back to the Birmingham jail after court proceedings.
