Bessemer Woman Killed In Drive-By Shooting
A 47-year-old mother was killed Saturday while in the car with her son in Bessemer.
BESSEMER, AL -- A 47-year-old woman was killed in a drive-by shooting in Bessemer Saturday. Miko Steadman Marks was reportedly riding in the car with her son when she was shot just before 5 p.m. Saturday.
An Alabama Media Group report said Marks and her son were traveling in the 2000 block of Ninth Avenue North over the viaduct when another vehicle opened fire. Marks was struck, but her son was not.
Marks' son reportedly crashed his vehicle at Ninth Avenue North and 19th Street North while trying to take his mother to the hospital. Police arrived at the scene and took Marks to UAB Hospital where she was pronounced dead at 5:32 p.m.

Bessemer police Lt. Christian Clemons said investigators don’t yet know what led to the shooting.
