The Best Burrito In Birmingham

Friday is National Burrito Day, so where can you find the best burrito in Birmingham?

BIRMINGHAM, AL - While it might not be the most well-known commemorative day, Friday, April 6 is National Burrito Day. Mexican cuisine is among the most popular in the United States, although the Southwest U.S. has its own version of Mexican food, which includes variations of traditional Mexican fare.

The burrito, according to legend, was identified as a regional item from the Mexican state of Guanajuato in the 1895 Diccionario de Mexicanismos, but it is largely considered an American creation. While the dish is traditional to some areas in the north part of Mexico, in the south of Mexico it exists almost exclusively for tourists.

The word actually means "little donkey," and there is some confusion over why the dish took the name. Some think it is because they were originally sold out of donkey carts, and others have said it is because the shape of a burrito looks like the rolled packs often carried by donkeys.
