Best Children’s Hospital In Alabama: U.S. News & World Report

BIRMINGHAM, AL — Children's of Alabama is listed among the best children's hospitals in the country, according to U.S. News & World Report’s annual rankings.

The 2020-21 best children’s hospital rankings released Tuesday feature the top 50 hospitals in 10 pediatric specialties and 10 hospitals that earned a spot on the magazine’s honor roll.

The hospitals on the honor roll “deliver exceptionally high-quality care across multiple specialties,” according to a news release from U.S. News & World Report.

Boston Children’s Hospital claimed the No. 1 spot on the honor roll for the seventh consecutive year.

The 2020-21 edition of the Best Children’s Hospitals does not include data from the coronavirus pandemic, which began after the data-collection period ended.

Children's of Alabama earned a place in the top 50 of 9 of the 10 pediatric specialty rankings:

• Cancer: 27th
• Cardio and Heart Surgery: 28th
• Gastroenterology and GI Surgery: 41st
• Neonatology: 12th
• Nephrology: 38th
• Neurology: 32nd
• Orthopedics: 47th
• Pulmonology and Lung Surgery: 29th
• Urology: 44th

“Across our nation, health care professionals are striving against unprecedented challenges to provide the best possible care to each of their patients,” said Ben Harder, chief of health analysis and managing editor at U.S. News, in a news release. “The nurses, doctors and other professionals at the Best Children’s Hospitals have demonstrated a track record of delivering top-notch care to children with diverse medical needs.”

2. Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia
3. Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center
4. Texas Children’s Hospital
5. Children’s Hospital Los Angeles
6. Children’s Hospital Colorado
7. Children’s National Hospital
8. Nationwide Children’s Hospital
9. UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh
10. Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford
