Best Cities For Police Officers: Where Birmingham Ranks

BIRMINGHAM, AL — More than 800,000 people across the country are employed as police officers. Salary, level of danger and stress level for police officers certainly varies from city to city, but where are best cities for police officers?

Security.org released a study this week on Best and Worst Cities for Police Officers using the most recent data from the FBI and U.S. Department of Labor. The rankings were determined by analyzing income, police deaths, employment opportunity and cost of living in each of the 300 cities studied.

To rank 300-plus cities, Security.org examined data across several areas — including income, safety, employment and cost of living. The overall ranking of cities was done by creating a 1-318 ranking in each category, adding each city’s rankings together and comparing them.

Birmingham ranked as one of the best cities for police offices, actually landing at no. 2 in the country behind Pittsburgh.
