Birmingham Area School Systems Dominate Niche Top 10

Niche.com's latest K-12 rankings for 2019 are out, and four of the top five districts are in the Birmingham metro area.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - Niche has ranked Alabama’s best school districts for 2019 and the four out the top five school districts in the state are located within the Birmingham metro area.

The rankings were released this week by Niche as part of its 2019 K-12 rankings. Niche ranked a total of 138 school districts in Alabama.

Mountain Brook topped the list in Alabama, followed by Madison City Schools, Homewood City Schools, Hoover City Schools and Vestavia Hills City Schools.

According to Niche, the Jericho Union Free School District in Jericho, New York, is the best school district in the country overall. With an overall Niche grade of A+, the district received a grade of A+ in academics, teachers, clubs and activities, college prep and health and safety. In the category of diversity, Niche awarded the school district a B+.

To arrive at these rankings, Niche looked at data from the U.S. Department of Education as well as test scores, college data and ratings collected from Niche users. (You can read more about the methodology here.)
