Birmingham Barons Begin Season Tonight, Play Home Opener April 11

The Birmingham Barons begin their season tonight on the road, and will play Montgomery April 11 at Regions Field for its home opener.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - The Birmingham Barons open the 2018 season on the road in Chattanooga tonight, and after the opening series against the Lookouts, will play their home opener April 11 against Montgomery.

The Barons, the Chicago White Sox Double-A affiliate, will play a five-game series in Chattanooga, and then come back to Birmingham to host the Montgomery Biscuits for a five game set at Regions Field. The 2018 season marks the sixth season for Regions Field, and the barons have consistently ranked among the top teams in the Southern League in attendance since the new park opened in 2013.

The first 1,000 fans through the gates April 11 will receive a Harley Davidson magnetic schedule. The following night is Thirsty Thursday at Regions Field, where drinks are $2. The game on the 13th will feature Friday Night Fireworks, and the Saturday game will be Jackie Robinson Day, commemorating the day Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier in Major League Baseball.

The Barons play 70 home games this season, as they begin the season with Ryan Newman as the team's new manager.
