BIRMINGHAM, AL — The Birmingham Bowl kicks off Jan. 2 at Legion Field, and one of the teams chosen for this year's game is a return guest to the Magic City's annual bowl game. The 21st-ranked Cincinnati Bearcats will make their second trio to the Birmingham Bowl and face the Boston College Golden Eagles.

The Bearcats last played at the 2007 Birmingham Bowl against another Golden Eagles team, Southern Miss, winning 31-21.

While Boston College is making its first trip to the Birmingham Bowl, this will not be the first time the school has played at Legion Field. The 1984 team, led by that year's Heisman Trophy winner Doug Flutie, defeated Alabama 38-31 in the opening game of the season.
