BIRMINGHAM, AL — The first day of school for the 2019-2020 school year is not far away for systems all over the Birmingham metro area. This includes Birmingham City Schools and Jefferson County Schools.

Birmingham City School begin August 8, while Jefferson County students begin on August 27. Here are some of the important dates for both school systems for the upcoming school year:

End of first grading period: October 11

Fall Break: October 25
