Here are the top three stories today in Birmingham:

  1. Birmingham police are investigating a shooting after two men were injured on Tuesday afternoon. Birmingham Fire and Rescue, after responding to a car crash, discovered the man in the car had been shot. Another related victim was also taken to the hospital. Learn more at the link.   2. The Birmingham Public Library is seeking funding from the city to prevent branch closures. The city is currently considering its options for a near $14 million budget surplus. Library board member Kim Richardson is hopeful that sufficient funding will be granted to the library system. (WRBL)
  3. Workers at the Starbucks at 20th Street and Third Avenue in downtown Birmingham are seeking to unionize. According to a letter sent by employees to Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz, the workers are seeking safer working conditions and more staff after unsafe incidents took place in the store.
